Hey world-changers! Check out the Cream City Gardens volunteer schedule for this spring!
Help us maintain our Cream City Gardens through its busy growing season! Last year, the gardens raised 4,470 pounds of produce, and the Guest House is hoping to raise even more this year! Here are a few opportunities currently available to volunteer:
Friday, April 15 from 4 - 7 pm: Help us prep our gardens by unloading donated fertilizer, removing wood chips and planting clover. We are hoping to have 15 volunteers help with this task.
Saturday, April 23 from 9 am - Noon: Help us prep the garden beds with compost and fertilizer, and help with a neighborhood clean-up. We are hoping to have 60-100 volunteers help, as we'll have plenty to do!
Saturday, April 30 from 9 am - Noon: Help us plant seeds in each garden bed to kick off the growing season! We are hoping to have 30 volunteers help with this activity.
Every Tuesday from 10 - 11 am: Every Tuesday, join staff and guests in shelter at this regular drop-in opportunity to help weed, water and harvest in the garden.
Every Thursday from 4 - 5 pm: Every Thursday, join staff and guests in shelter at this regular drop-in opportunity to help week, water and harvest in the garden.
Be a Volunteer Instructor in our Urban Agriculture Training Program:
The Cream City Gardens Urban Agriculture Training Program provides job training to formerly homeless individuals in the areas of basic agriculture, urban gardening, and the green industry. Graduates of this program seek jobs in urban farming, local farmer's markets, and your neighborhood grocer's produce department. If you're interested in leading a week of classes in this program on a green topic that interests you, contact me for more details!
